The main service is the Sung Mass at 10.30am every Sunday, and it lasts a little over an hour. You don’t need to have been before, to know anyone, or to be sure what you believe. Come as you are.

Finding us

St Barnabas stands on the corner of Pitshanger Lane and Denison Road, W5 1QG. There is street parking on the roads nearby, and the E2 and E9 buses stop close by. Ealing Broadway and Hanger Lane stations are each about fifteen minutes away on foot.

When you arrive

A Welcomer will greet you at the door, give you an order of service, and help you to a seat — sit wherever you like. If you would rather slip in quietly at the back, that is completely fine too.

What happens in the service

Our worship is in the modern Catholic tradition. There is singing from the choir, hymns that everyone joins, moments of stillness, and at certain points incense — the sweet smoke you may see rising near the altar. Incense is an ancient sign of our prayers ascending to God; if it is new to you, simply enjoy it. You don’t need to follow every movement. The order of service will guide you, and no one minds if you stay seated when others stand.

Coming to communion

At communion, everyone is welcome to come forward — to receive the bread and wine if you are used to doing so, or simply to receive a blessing. (If you would like a blessing, just keep your hands by your sides and the priest will understand.) There is no obligation either way, and no one is watching to see what you do.

Bringing children

Children are welcome at every service — noise and all. On Sundays there is Noisy Mass for under-5s, Children’s Church for ages 5–9, and a Youth Group for ages 10–16.

Getting in

There is step-free access through the main entrance, an induction loop in the church, and an accessible toilet. You can read more on our Accessibility page, or simply ask a Welcomer on the day.

What to wear

Whatever you are comfortable in. You will see everything from suits to jeans.

After the Mass there is coffee and conversation at the back of church — do stay if you can. We would love to meet you.
