Each year St Barnabas is one of the hosts — or sends volunteers to other venues — for the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter. The project provides emergency, dormitory-style accommodation for up to fourteen guests: people who are sleeping on the streets, at immediate risk of rough sleeping locally, or among the “hidden homeless”.

The shelter runs from late November to the end of March. Each night a different church hosts guests, offering a hot meal, a bed, breakfast and — just as importantly — companionship. On average a guest stays around four weeks before moving on to more permanent housing.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
